BTB (Beat the Bastard)

OK, B's & G's, Let"s Get This Party Started...it's time for us to get up off the matte and, together, kick this virus' ass. Last night, my better half brought to my attention, that she thought I had given up; allowed this bad imitation of a Stephen King novel to consume my every waking thought. And she's right. It had. But no more....

Of course, we're all going to know Covid19 is here, think of it, every day, and we're going to have to deal with it. But from this point on, The Three-dot will be your hub for ways to Beat The Bastard. Many are out of work, so we'll have inexpensive, fun, easy to prepare, and damned tasty recipes. We'll have suggestions on how we can better protect ourselves, with tons of DIY hacks. And if you're bored to tears, we're going to have links to great steamed entertainment and the ability to download from a massive digital library of your favorite music and reading material. So, let's party, Marty!...

Enjoy 30 Days of FREE official concert recordings...on nugs.net. Access audio and a growing collection of video on demand from over 15,000 concerts from the 60s to today. Catch shows from The Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, Dead & Company, and many more!

Do Unto Others...A big part of how we're going to BTB is by helping those of us who are most susceptible to the virus (the elderly and people with autoimmune diseases (diabetics, heart and lung disease, obesity, etc). When you HAVE to do some shopping or run errands, check in with those people you know who fit into this group and see if you can help keep them out of the viral war zone. The lives you save, may be there's...

On a related note...if you're fearful of going out to do grocery shopping, many participating stores (Raley's, Safeway, Wal-mart, BelAir) offering home delivery and "no-touch" curbside service.

Humm Baby!...The MLB season was supposed to start last week. And we're probably not going to get much of, if any type of a season this year. But, here at the Three-dot, we're not accepting that. So, here are direct links to the entire broadcasts of post-season play during the '10, '12, '14 Championship seasons. So grab a bag of peanuts, a pop or a beer (maybe even makeup some garlic fries, sit back, and enjoy. Play Ball!...

Scrub, scrub, scrub...Like TP, hand sanitizer is playing hide-n-seek in the stores with many of us. No problem. The following is a great sanitizing agent; easily and inexpensively made at home. And if you're low on coin, give me a call at 925.784.9989 and I'll make sure you get some...

Here’s what you need:
2/3 cup Isopropyl alcohol
91% (rubbing alcohol)
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
Essential oil in your choice of fragrance (optional)
A small or medium mixing bowl
A spoon
An empty container, such as a 3-ounce container from a travel toiletries kit.
A funnel (optional, makes it easier if your container has a small mouth like a bottle)
A small piece of masking tape for labeling.

Here’s how to make it:
In your mixing bowl, stir the Isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol or witch hazel and aloe vera gel until blended together.
Stir in 8-10 drops of your preferred scented essential oil (optional).
Your hand sanitizer is now made...

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE...for social distancing. There is no vaccine, no miracle cure, The best and ONLY way to BTB, is to stay the eff home. This virus DOES. NOT. MOVE. The ONLY way it can travel to infect others, is if it transports on us. The next best tool we have, right now, it to keep 6-10' away from anyone when we have to go out, and to wear a mask. Every little bit helps, and so here's a video to show anyone how they can make a mask to help protect themselves...https://youtu.be/1r2C1zGUHbU?list=RDCMUCtQVy5IY7TjSBMo-lGigfnQ...

Turn up the music...we hope those of you who have ordered music from the library are enjoying it. And to answer a question we received last night, when you receive the email containing the music you requested, please download the files immediately to your phone, laptop, desktop, thumb drive, or other digital device, so that we may process other orders (our files space is somewhat limited). And yes, these music files are free and yours to keep and use as long as you like. https://www.dennisjonesphotography.com/music-library ...

Let's here from you!... How are YOU Beating the Bastard? Send us your ideas of ways you've found to make life a little more bearable, and we'll share it with the world.

Stay Safe. Stay At Home. And pardon the typos...

Until next time,

NOT Black April

The next two or three weeks...are going to be rough; likely making the last two weeks feel like a Donny & Marie birthday party. Keep moving and stay busy, even with the smallest of projects, and always keep in mind what you can do for someone else. Helping someone else get through this will help you, just as much. Believe...

Do the right thing...WIC & SNAP benefits come to low-income families at the first of the month and there will be a surge as these families redeem them.

Many of these families' kitchens were depleted more quickly because children are staying home from school and some families are going hungry right now. Let's give these families space to shop and please respect their needs by not buying items with a WIC shelf tag unless you absolutely need them. Thanks...

John Mayer - Head Dead...
to help keep our minds alert and filled with new, enjoyable, experiences, the next installment of Dead & Company‘s One More Saturday Night free livestream replay series, features a show from the band’s 2018 summer tour. Full-show pro-shot video of Dead & Company’s June 30, 2018 concert at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon will air this Saturday, April 4 at 8 p.m. ET via the JamBase Livestreams Calendarnugs.tv and YouTube...

Musical second act...many of you that requested recordings from my digital library (and those of you who may still), to pass the Corvid time, suggested I put a form on the library page ( https://www.dennisjonesphotography.com/music-library ) and bypass the email thing. Good idea, and I'll have it up by noon tomorrow - Thursday, 4-2 (my thanks to Brad, Hillary, Thom, Peter, and Dianna for the great idea)...

Thought for the day Pt.1..."If you have a glass of wine in each hand, you can't touch your face"...

Fun Facts...
Did you know that in 1665, the University of Cambridge temporarily closed due to the bubonic plague? Isaac Newton was forced to work from home, and he used his time to develop calculus and the theory of gravity.  You never know what amazing results will come out of this viral mess...Fast Forward...On February 26, 2020, the President announced we had 15 cases of the coronavirus, which in a few days would be down to zero. Today, 33 days later, there are 209,015 reported cases, with 4,657 reported American deaths. Not exactly a fun fact, but one can't exactly pass this off as a typo. And for those who have been whining about how mean everyone is being to President Bonespurs, now that is pretty funny...

Dons represent!!!...
School chum Pam Rutledge is using her “shelter time” to...make strawberry jam! Of course it helps if one has a slew of strawberry plants nestled somewhere on the three acres of their digs on the red neck side of the Altamont, but hey, I just hope she remembers my address! (I’ve sampled her family’s cooking talents, and I’m gonna bet the farm this jam is the BOMB!!!)...

Thought for the day Pt.2..."Once a day, especially now, each of us should ask ourselves, "How can I be of help to someone else; someone who's not as lucky as I am..."

Head Papa Poetry...Such beautiful thoughts from Pope Francis:
“Tonight before falling asleep think about when we will return to the street. When we hug again, when all the shopping together will seem like a party.

Let's think about when the coffees will return to the bar, the small talk, the photos close to each other. We think about when it will be all a memory, but normality will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.

We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.
Every second will be precious.

Swims at the sea, the sun until late, sunsets, toasts, laughter.

We will go back to laughing together. Strength and courage"...

For the last few weeks...I've been wanting to watch "Remember the Titans"; that amazing film starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton, set in early seventies' south. Finally making the time last night, I didn't realize until half way through the film why I so desperately wanted to see it again. Set in the firestorm of school busing in Virginia, the coaches, players, and citizens were heavily divided. But, through example and self-reflection, were able to find a way to work through it all. I was brought to tears several times during the movie, and when it ended, I looked at Jenn and said, "This is how things are supposed to be. THIS is how we should be working and dealing with things today". Lord how I do miss the old days; days when we weren't afraid of education and didn't label people based on who they voted for in the last election; when we reached for the stars and built massive projects all while raising a generation of intelligent scientists and ground breaking, historic artists. I miss the days when we encourage and fought for and helped our neighbors, no matter what they looked like or where they came from. Lord, how I do miss America...

Until next time (and pardon the typos!),
